The Friends of the Arts of Brookfield, Inc. and the Brookfield Arts Commission seek graduating senior scholarship applicants for Friends of the Arts Student Award
The Friends of the Arts of Brookfield, Inc. (FOA) and the Brookfield Arts Commission (BAC) intend to award scholarships to graduating seniors who are also Brookfield residents and are interested in studying the arts and pursuing a career in the arts. Applicants must be residents of Brookfield, but they do not have to be graduating from Brookfield High School. The number and amount/s of the award/s are dependent upon the number and strength of the applications received.
Applicants for this award should demonstrate a commitment to their pursuit of an arts career through studies, practice or involvement in community arts activities. Award is not based on academic achievement or on financial need. Any graduating senior who is a resident of Brookfield and has the intent to study the arts and pursue a career in the arts is eligible.
Application deadline is May 19, 2017. There are drop off boxes in Brookfield High School guidance office and in the First Selectman’s office in Brookfield Town Hall.
Applications should include:
A short essay, no more than 250 words, describing vision and goals;
A resume or vitae;
A copy of academic record or scans of June report cards from Freshman/Sophomore/Junior years and most recent Senior report card.
Letters of recommendation are not necessary but may be included. A portfolio or performance thumb drive or CD of no more than 5 minutes in length demonstrating passion for the arts may be included.
